BurnSafe Education Programs

The BurnSafe Education Programs, BurnSafe Junior and BurnSafe Schools, are fun, FREE and interactive burns prevention and first aid programs designed to educate children and their families in South Australia about the incidence of burn injury, offer practical prevention strategies and basic first aid knowledge. These programs are designed to meet the the National Quality Standard, Early Years Learning Framework and the National Australian Curriculum.

Almost every burn injury a young person suffers is preventable and BurnSafe encourages children to be more aware of the incidence of burn injury, its major causes and how they can reduce the risk of suffering a burn injury.

Children, from the ages of 3 to school age, engage with our lovable but sometimes mischievous puppets, practice the steps of "stop, cover, drop & roll" to extinguish a clothing fire and learn a song about first aid.

All children learn best practice first aid and take home a BurnSafe bag, encouraging students to discuss their learning with their family.

Thanks to the SA Government, Clarke Energy, Cops for Kids, KeyInvest and Morialta Trust, the Julian Burton Burns Trust runs BurnSafe Junior, a health and safety program in SA at no cost to centres or families.
